Don't say open your mouth and say it because your just wasting your time if you do...by the way...the only way I can talk to him is through e-mail. We live about 60 miles apart. And don't give me a lecture about long distance relationships either!

The time is not the issue. People's feelings grow and change - so the limiting factor here is not the time, but the fact that you simply don't feel comfortable typing those words in an email.

2 thoughts come to my mind. 1) You want a relationship but you are not committed to investing in this person enough to express your love. That's very reasonable. Being in love with this person has complications. Who will move and give up their home, lives and friends? Maybe both of you - and for what? A complete unknown. 2) Maybe you don't really love him if you cannot bring yourself to say in in over a year? Sometimes we are in love with love and having a long distance partner makes the whole relationship thing, so much easier. You don't have to mess with somebody in your actual life every single day, but you have a boyfriend, so you don't have to worry about it. It's taken care of. A shame that its long distance, but also really nice.

I wouldn't rock the boat if I was you. If he is saying I love you and you want to respond, but can't with the actual words, you can try something like "You mean so much to me", "I don't know what I would do without you in my life" or "I think the world of you". Lesser forms are more like "I totally dig you", "You are my favorite person in the whole world", etc.

Peace!

No lectures here, Send him an e-card saying exactly that. Good luck.
