Ive tried maybe 5 or 6 different kinds over the years but i find myself having to re-dye my hair once a month or so. I would like to only have to do it every 3 months.Ive only had a problem with the color black, never any other colors.

I used Revlon Colorsilk...It has faded, but not too badly. Also, using a shampoo and conditioner that is made for color treated hair works really well to keep it from fading. DO NOT use pantene or suave. Those two shampoos strip your hair and are VERY bad for colored hair. It WILL make your hair fade.

I had the same problem. I found that if I dyed w/a permanent dye, and then re-dyed it about a week or two later, it stayed longer. You may even try a color glaze a few days after that, just to add shine and boost the color a bit. Black dye fades the easiest, but once i figured it out, I had to let it grow out, blending highlights into it till it was all cut off.

Wella permanent color from a beauty supply store. It is more of a professional type of coloring so you have to be sure to condition and not completely dry out your hair but it does last a lot longer than the "box" color. I use Netrogena triple moisture in the jar on the ends to protect them from the color, put the conditioner on before you color your roots, to about half way up. Double up on the gloves too, they also have thicker ones at the beauty supply. I cannot tell you how many times I have stains on my nails and that sucks!! Wella does usually last around 3 months, I would also recommend using a shampoo for color treated hair, I love Redken for color treated hair shampoo (Ulta) it doesn't strip your hair and use a conditioner for your hair type.
Good luck

Most permanent hair colors only last 4 - 6 weeks. If you want to keep your color and only dye your hair once every 12 weeks I would recommend a good shampoo and conditioner for black hair such as Tresemme' color thrive. Good Luck!
