It's quite possible you are having a migraine. Anytime you have a headache that is different from any other headache you have had, you should get in to a doctor to get checked out. I know from experience (I've had chronic migraines for over 40 years) that when you have a migraine, all you want to do is crawl under a rock), but you do NOT want to mess around with head pain! But two bad head days that close together are nothing to mess with!

Migraines aren't just headaches. They are a neurological disease. You don't say how old you are, but these are something that, if you're indeed getting migraines, you'll need to deal with for life, so getting into the doctor early will give you a good headstart on getting the right preventative medication and "abortive" medication (Imitrex =or similar=...there are 7 different triptans out there...and one or another of these MAY work) figured out.

You're also going to want to find out what your triggers are - what sets off a migraine for you. This will lessen the possibility of your getting them. There are a number of things that can be triggers. Often red wine, aged cheddar cheese, caffeine, and chocolate come to mind (as far as foods). My biggest is weather changes (which, darn it, I can't avoid!)

Good luck!

You prob need to go to the doctor. I had my first migraine last november, and I had to go to the E.R. because I had no idea what was going on. My doctor prescribed me a pill that I take every night to try to prevent the migraines from reoccuring (which they have helped, but I still have a migraine every now and then), and he prescribed Imitrex injections to take during a migraine attack (injections because I was also throwing up from the pain so I wouldn't be able to keep anything down). I had to go to the doctor because nothing was working for my migraines: not advil migraine, not excedrin migraine, not even hydrocodones. But the Imitrex injection starts working right away, and I'm back to feeling like myself within a couple of hours. What you need to do is get with your doctor. Unfortunately there are no cures for migraines, but there are ways to get rid of migraines. Hope you get to feeling better.

I was a migraine sufferer for 37 years, so here are my suggestions.

They can be hormonal. Occasionally I would get a bad one when the barometric pressure changed.

Take a hand towel get it wet and wring it out and place in the microwave for 40 seconds.
It will be hot. Place folded on your face for as long as it is warm, reheat and then move to the back of your neck for as long as it is warm. It is VERY helpful in killing the pain.

Another remedy is a cold pack on the back of your neck, it constricts the blood vessels and calms the pulsating in your head. I personally preferred heat over cold.

Lay down in a cool dark room with your eyes covered. Eating and drinking much usually just made me sick.

How do you know that it was actually a migrane? Any headache that is that bad and then recurs again in a few days, is accompanied by dizziness and nausea should be checked out by a physician. If it is not relieved by tylenol and sleep then you should call your doctor. If it gets worse or you have any other symptoms like stiffness in your neck you should go to the emergency room and be checked out....don't just assume you have a migrane....good luck...I sympathize as I had migranes for many years and they are very painful....take care...

Motrin will work better than Tylenol. Also try caffeine and rest in a dark room.
