There is no set "number".

it all depends on the relation to the rest of your credit.

Is it the only account you have? Installment or revolving account? Home loan, car loan? These all weigh more on your score than a Jc Penney card.

If you have 10 accounts open, and they are all being paid on time- 1 negative account wopnt be as bad as only having 2 accounts open.

There's no exact number since the credit score is based on a complex formula and additional items are taken into consideration. If you had great credit before the late payment, it could drop your score by 75 to 100 points.
