I don't think that defrost works on my microwave, and I don't have time to let it sit in the fridge over night.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I did read what you said about your micro, but....

Can you set the power on the micro? Cook the meat for 5 minutes at 30% power. If the bottom doesn't spin, make sure you turn the plate every 2 minutes, and flip the meat completely over halfway through.

I am a risk-taker. If I have time, I leave it on the counter for about 8 hours instead of microwaving it. Bad gg!

When I was growing up, my mom always thawed meat on the countertop on a plate. I've never had food poisoning, so obviously I've built up an immunity to the bacteria that would grow in this meat. However, as an adult, I don't do that myself. If I need thawed hamburger for a recipe, I put it in a glass bowl, and microwave it on 'cook' for about 3 or 4 minutes. I turn it frequently, pulling off all the bits that have thawed, and placing them in a separate bowl. I continue doing that until the meat is thawed. That way, I don't have any of those yucky cooked bits, either. If I don't need thawed meat, I just cook it from frozen.

The thing you have to be careful of is to still do it carefully. Try the nuker on 50 per cent power (even if the auto defrost function doesn't work). Alternatively, put in a slow oven, and as the outside meat thaws, take it off the frozen middle.

Microwave on low power if you have that option. If not, do it for 20-30 seconds at a time and flip it over. If what you are using it for is going to be made in a skillet/pan just throw it in and start browning it. It will thaw out.

microwave defrosting stinks, especially hamburger. it always seems to turn the meat gray. it's so gross.
try putting it in a plastic bag and setting it in the sink under cold running water. It should be defrosted in 30 minutes or so.

Fill the sink with Cold Water, put the hamburger meat in a plastic ziplock, the put it in the sink. It should be pretty thawed in about 20 minutes.

You can cook it in a skillet. You cook one side till it is thawed, then flip it over, scrape the cooked side off, then keep flipping.

For hamburgers, try putting the package under luke warm water and hopefully that will thaw it quickly.

This doesn't sound like it will work, but it will: soak it in a pot of room-temperature hot water. I've done this many times. It's amazing how fast it will thaw. For some scientific reason, hot water does NOT have the same effect.
