I've tried to get answers from the U.K. ciivil servants, but never get an answer one way or the other. I was born in U.K., but live in Canada.

why dont you just go to a photo shop and have your birth certificate shrunk to a wallet size? I mean, ofcourse your original birth certificate remains intact...the photo place will give you a duplicate except it will in a wallet size...(you might lose some clarity in the wallet size but you will be able to carry it in your wallet.....

You could but it would be unreadable. Mine is written beautifully in fountain pen, with a thick nib. I shudder to think how that would come out on a credit card.
