so how long should you wait after you eat before you get some shuteye?

Untrue.

It's calories in vs. calories burned. If you eat late at night but didn't much during the day, no problem. If you eat late at night as a snack, then it's going to cause a problem no matter what.

Figure you burn 50 calories an hour watching TV, so does staying away for 2 hours mean anything if you just ate something 300-600 calories?

its a myth, actually. You can sleep after you eat, the body does not store or metabolize fat any differently
