My father served in Vietnam and is no longer alive. I have one of his medals. The ribbon is blue with two orange stripes, and the medal itself is made out of bronze (I think). The medal is a many pointed star shape with a descending eagle, it is tarnished but I think the eagle may be holding something (a thunderbolt?).

Nope, it's not a bronze star. The stripes on my dad's medal are very orange and seperated, and the star has lots more points and the eagle is larger.
