Do Muslims reserve the right to attack back when they are under attack?

Question

If a nation or a group of Muslims are attacked by non-Muslims, I think they should attack back to defend themselves by any and every possible mean. What is your opinion on it?

According to islam, a Muslim can only fight back when in defense of oneself, family, or property. Period. Killing an innocent person is absolutely forbidden. The killing of women and children is also forbidden - even when fighting back. Funny how you don't see these rules being applied nowadays. Just goes to show how some twist the religion to suit themselves/politics.

Well at least someone agrees with Hezbollah. Yes Muslims are only allowed to go to war whenever we are attacked or invaded by another country and the state of Islam and the people are threatened. Like with Israel attacking Lebanon and Palestine. Of course we are going to protect ourselves from attacks by anyone. We're not going to sit back and watch our people be murdered. I'm Muslim and thank you for agreeing with Hezbollah and other Muslims defending their countries. Not many people would do that.

Any group or people are well within their rights to defend themselves against those who would do them harm.

I do believe that before you fight you try to reason.
If reason fails try to get a neutral party to mediate.
If mediation fails do what you must do to defend yourself.
Once the threat has been dealt with, stop fighting.

I fail to see the logic, when most of those killed are fellow Muslims This not only reveals disrespect for human life but, also reveals the level of barbaric methods used, to attain their goals... Whatever those goals may be. Logic and common sense appear to be tossed to the winds.

I guess that's how wars go. The US was attacked not once but at least three times before we took action. The twin towers were attacked by agents of islam but survived. The Cole was attacked but brought back to dry dock and repaired. Then the towers were attacked again killing innocent non combatants. We finally had enough.. These evil agents of a religion that teaches them to kill men woman and children to attack an enemy that had not attacked them need to be stopped. If islam is teaching her followers this type of doctrine it also need to be destroyed... Jim

With that being said, if they have done nothing, then of course defend themselves if someone tries to attack them but if they start something, they should be prepared to finish it.

The last time I checked, the world wants peace. But certain Muslims have reverted to Terrorist activity, there will be no peace as long as they continue to be the originator in the aggression.

Stop those who are in your religion that are terrorists, and then we'll talk.

i have to agree aali_ .... some people just do what they feel like and then try to cover it up with religion, which makes it wrong either way.... everyone should defend themselves, but where does defense end and murder begin?

Yes. And if they first attack someone with superior firepower, they should expect to get their #%$ handed to them in a basket.
