I can understand it fairly well, but I'm not good with written Italian. Is there anything on the internet that could help me?

I am Italian. But I'm third generation, and most of my relatives who can still read and write in Italian are either several hundred miles away or dead.

Get an Italian to English dictionary and translate a book. That's what I did to learn German. It worked well.

get a good dictionary and grammar book and start to read something that you could like, or watch some movies in italian with english subtitles or even without, or get in to an italian chatroom...there are many ways if you want to learn it.

I'm Italian, if you want you can write to me via msn messenger...
send me a mail (click on my profile) and we'll start our written Italian conversations, ok?
anyway, there's a site about practicing languages:

Hmm, that is a tough one. After all, there are tapes for learning to speak it, but none for learning to write it :) If you're really serious about this, you might check into taking a college course or two online. I understand it's quite inexpensive, especially if you enroll at a public institution. Have fun!
