If you do let religion brainwash you, then you should consider the admonishion of the Bible:

Test everything. Hold on to the good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

The mind of the prudent acquires knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. (Proverbs 18:15)

Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your MIND.'" (Matthew 22:37)

Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD (Isaiah 1:18)

Biblical Christianity is a reasoned, thought out faith that does not require you to check in your brain at the door, though admittedly a lot do.

Really, atheism is fine for some--it depends on where you are in your soul's development. Actually, to be in the Light, you realize that everyone is right where they should be at this point in their development. It isn't right or wrong, it simply IS.

I don't believe in religion, but I do acknowledge a "higher" (for want of a better word) spiritual intelligence. People going through religion aren't better or worse than anyone else. There are many who want to thrust their beliefs on others, and that kind of intrusion is not welcome.

You don't have to thrust your opinion on others, either. Simply let people know that there are alternatives to religion.

Do you let atheism brainwash you? Please allow me to give you some real truth: The reason there are so many atheists today,
is for one unfortunate reason. The Churches. I'm Christian, I follow Christ, His Word. But I am embarrassed when i see the tripe taught on tv and in the churches, Its ridiculous. It didn't come from God, thats for sure. And, the Bible teaches that God hates them too. (yes, HATES THEM TOO) It says that when He returns, he's gonna visit THEM first, and he's gonna take the support beams of their churches, and crash them down right onto their heads - and he's speaking directly to the Churches -
the clowns who teach bullshit that comes from men, not from God. God says, I didn't send them. So please, try not to judge God and following Jesus Christ by what you see. My relationship with Christ that is very private for me (i belong to No church)
is the most valuable thing i have. It ended my 29 year old heroin addiction without rehab, and made my life really worthwhile.
But anyway, its okay. If you can't see the light now, wait until he returns. He understands the way people are being bullshitted, so he has set aside a 1000-year period of teaching. Nobody is gonna go to hell until everybody sees God in front of them, knows for sure the truth, and then is given a chance to make up their minds.

Ah! but just because you are an Atheist does not mean you are free from religion my friend! YOU are your religion. You cast aside other beliefs because you do not need them or simply because you do not believe in them, therefore, the only thing you truly can believe is yourself and your existence. You are asking if you brainwash yourself.

... I don't know. Do you??

I see people like you saying brainwash this and brainwash that.. It isn't theism that is taught in the schools. It's Atheism that young minds are exposed to day after day. Christians get one day a week to try to pose another point of view in their minds.. So who is it that in brainwashed here?

Nope. I let the bible answer my questions on life, the universe and everything. I know where to look for the answers, and I try to pass on that knowledge as often as I can. I'm not brainwashed; if I was my life would be a lot less complicated.

You have it all wrong Atheists have gone over to the dark side

John 3:19
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

So don't tell me that I should come into your "light" you who sit in darkness don't know Who the LIGHT is...

By brainwash you mean teach me concepts to consider and try out in my life? - sure...just like I let my parents, and my teachers, and my friends, and various media sources brainwash me.

That soft force of external influences doesn't really scare me that much.

Why be an atheist when I am just fine as a Druid? I technically had no religion for like 4-5 years, then one day I discovered Druidry and it just sort of settled in around me as I settled into it... wasn't brainwashed, just found where I belonged.
