I don't know where you live, but here in America you can get charged more for hurting an animal than a human. It is never okay to test any drug on anything or anyone. I am basing this on my own belief. Afterall, isn't that what we called torture back in the day to give someone something against their will. I guess the scientist figured out that the chimps and other animals can't complain and bring law suits against them. Thank you.

I don't think it is anymore right to test on a chimp or any other animal than it is a person. I am so against animal testing or any other form of animal abuse. It breaks my heart to think about all the innocent animals that are abused and neglected in this world. No, it is not based on religion. I simply love animals and can't stand the thought of them being hurt.

Because it's not legal to test on people. I don't think it's okay at all, but until it becomes legal to do mass tests on humans (and until we can get humans who are willing to volunteer for those tests) that's just the way it is. That's got nothing to do with my religious beliefs, and for the record I DON'T think it's okay to hurt animals.

Though I am a carnivore, so go ahead and point out the inconsistency with that, but I'm aware of the inconsistency and don't offer any explanation other than I like meat.

Its NOT OK to hurt animals.
And if you look on most products you will see that they are using animals less and less in studies.
I am personally getting sick of everything being based on religion.
Why would you think that religion has anything to do with this?
I understand that they test on animals, but you need to further investigate why.
Animals used in testing are usually infected with the disease they are testing and trying to cure.
AND, they DO test on Humans when Humans allow them to but not many sign up to be a Guinea pig so to speak.

It is not ok. Hurting the innocent is never ok in my book. I only accept it if it's for: general health (i.e. eating meat - I don't personally, but I eat fish because I live in my parents house still, and theyre carnivorous! I need protein somehow and it's easier to replace meat n 2 veg with fish n 2 veg than cooking an entirely different meal. Even so, I think meat should be respected a LOT more than it is. That is a life you are eating. A life like yours. Maybe not as intelligent, but aware and feeling all the same.) specific helath (e.g. drugs for terminal or very painful diseases. Skin complaints however, and minor illnesses, I will not tolerate animal testing for.)

Even so, I do not think testing on very intelligent animals e.g. chimps can be condoned. They are so close in species to us, and in intelligence, that I think any pain caused to an innocent chimp is pretty much equal to that caused to a baby. Don't do it.

Gotta tell you, trying to make animal testing into a religious topic is kinda out there. Animal testing is scientific, not religious, therefore it would seem more logical to accuse scientist of this particular horror and not try to incorporate religion into it, considering the fact that religion has absolutely nothing to do with it.

By the way, I'm christian, don't believe in hunting (killing for pleasure), nor do I believe in animal testing. I have two dogs and three cats and can't abide the thought of anyone putting chemicals in or on them for some vain women's makeup or wrinkle lotion.

I hear ya, I have often thought that myself. Lets look at it logically. The animals that we test on have done nothing wrong, yes we use animals as food, but most places try to make their deaths painless and quick. When we test on animals we cause them to suffer needlessly. I purpose that we use human beings for testing, would we not get better data for the testing of products that will be used by humans. I say anyone who is put on death row, should be taken and tested on. If they have done something so bad as to warrant death, then how could this be considered an immoral act? It would a waste of US resources to just kill them and put them in the ground, and this would be their way of giving back to society for their indiscretions.

It's not ok to hurt chimps, who says that? Not I. Yes it is based on my religion. It is also not ok to hurt another human being physically or emotionally. Have a fabulous day!

Because there is a peckinh order and we happen to be on top of it. So why test on our own species when we have lower lifeforms that create similar repsonses that a human body would achieve. Would you rather have a medication tested on your daughter or family member to see if it works or lets say, a cat or chimp??? makes sense doesnt it. its not nice, but hey mother nature is the cruelest force on the planet. This is not a nice world we live in.

Test on a chimp, because the loss is less important then a human. Test 1, and dont torture it. if it causes pain to the chimp, stop!
