No. A pie takes almost an hour to bake and that is long enough to cook any apples - be sure you buy Granny Smith or Macs and not extra-hard Delicious though!! Ask your grocer as some types of apples are good for pies and some are not.

There is no need to baked the apples ahead of time. Just make sure you have the apples, sugar and melted butter (and other ingredients) mixed together when you pour them into your pie shell.

no, put the apples in the pie raw and stuff as many in the shell as you can becuaes they shrink when cooked. also mix some flour (about 3 tbs) in with the raw apples to absorb the apple juice or you'll have runny pie. good luck!!
