If he is willing to get allergy shots, he'd be more comfortable but until he does that there is a risk of an attack. Tell him to take an antihistimine when he comes, make sure you have clean! very clean, washed in hot water bedding the cat has not been on, vacuum carpets even cleaning them with a carpet cleaner is best, mop all floors, washing walls, and wipe down areas where the cat has been, open the windows to air out and then buy and run an air purifier. Bathe your cat and keep it in another room he won't be in. It's the dander that causes trouble with allergies, that's like people dandruff, microscopic to see on things. Try to brush your cat on a regular basis too as it helps remove dander and dry areas and keeps hair droppings to a minimum. Your friend could also wear a mask that filters out danders if need be.

Vacuum all of your floors and furniture before the friend comes. Use a spray you can buy at pet stores designed to be sprayed on cats to help reduce allergies for those who are allergic to animal dander. Keep your cats locked up while the friend visits.

Block your cats from the room you plan on entertaining your friend in. After the cats are blocked off, give the room a good vacuum and dust, including the couch and chairs. Open a window for a tad to air out the room. Also febreeze the carpet and floors. Make sure you use a lint brush to remove hair from your clothes. Also make sure to have some tissues handy just in case.
