I wanna try to make real yams this thanksgiving. My mother-in-law makes them and they are soooo good!

grocery store.....buy sweet tatoes.....peel them....boil them....put them in a oven pan...cover with brown sugar, butter, marshmallows, and cook till fork tender....I love em....good luck...

It's difficult to find real yams in this country. Most holiday yams are in truth sweet potatoes. So, here we go.

Peel and cut sweet potatoes
into large cubes...place in buttered baking dish.
sprinkle with salt...yes salt.
in sauce pan....slowly melt enough maple syrup to lightly coat.
Place in oven @ 350 and bake until done...about 45 minutes.
Sprinkle with raisins if desired.

I bake them same as baked potatos. slice in two lengthwise, plop in a dollop of butter and salt and pepper, wrap well in wax paper and bake for 11 minutes in microwave, or 45 minutes in 400 degree oven. When done, you can mash like potatos and , if you have a sweet tooth, add a quarter-cup maple syrup or brown sugar. Many people top the sweetended ones with marshmallow and bropil but this is too sweet for my family. We like them just with butter, salt and pepper!

Well i know how to make sweet potatoe pie home made so its just like yams so heres my recipe.

sweetpotatoes, a cup of milk, lemon extract,an egg, butter, ginger and cinnamon and combine them all together.

cut up sweet potatoes put them in a med sauce pan add little water 1\4c-1\2c then 1\2c-1c of white sugar,1\2c-1c light brown sugar,1\2 stick of butter 1\4tsp salt,cinnamon to taste simmer until tender and enjoy if you want the juice(syrup) to be thicker mix equal parts of water and flour and slowly add a little at a time to thicken it. ENJOY

first you buy sweet potatoes and peel and slice and let boil until tender then you ad white & brown sugar butter and cinnamin & nutmeg in then stir let simmer and then your ingredients will turn thick and syrupy. Eye ball your (sugars, butter and cinnamin) you dont really need a measuring cup

Peal them, slice them long way and dredge in sugar and fry them in a little bit of butter. Delish!

slice some sweet potatos and to make it even better try putting marshmallows in it its so good
