it depends upon the size of the stones and if they are lodged or not. Large stones can not usually be passed without significant damage.
Ultrasound can be done underwater to break up the stones, but doesn't alway avoid surgery

If you do have to have the surgery - it is really not that bad - I;ve had it. The recovery is only a few days.

No they dont insert anything. Its simple operation where in u visit the hospital & come back in the afternoon. My dad got operated some 8 times now using Lithotrypsy.

The doctor will keep seeing the stone on a screen & they will hit the stone with some kind of ultrasound (no cutting or inserting ) wave from outside just like x-ray.The stone will slowly start reducing in size & will ultimately become powder & will pass off in urine.

I have seen people at my office attending the afternoon session after undergoing the operation in the morning.Good luck & dont worry

I can't tell. A specialist doctor should be able to tell you. Some kidney stones can be removed with ultra sound others can't. The ones that can't be removed with ultra sound can be removed with surgery. Ask your specialist doctor or they might call them consultants in India, that is what the British call them. Nobody cane determine this without examination and tests.

Some stones will pass through the system and out without a procedure. There are people who passed the stones without medical intervention who would rather have the surgery, because passing them can be painful. I think there might be some drugs that can dissolve certain ones. Talk to your doctor about it. If he or she is competent and professional they will give you a straight answer.

to my knowledge the best method would be endroscopy. Doctors pass a tube into the organ and the break it inside and is also removed by the tube itself. There will not br much pain for this method. You will also be discharged on the very next day morning. It costs some where around Rs.10,000/- in tamil nadu.

No. Even small kidney stones are VERY painful and hard to pass without medical help. The vibration method will help to break it up into extremely small pieces so you can pass them through your urethra without as much pain and infections.

Kidney stones can be passed, but it HURTS! It is actually healthier and safer to let them vibrate them and break them down. Otherwise, you're going to be urinating out sharp rocks.
