For no reason?????????

He fails to show his I.D. (as required) when asked.
He attempts to get a riot started by causing a disturbance and yelling to others not to show their I.D.
He resists officers.

I think its great that they let him ride the lighting.

All he had to do was comply with a simple rule.

I would have to agree with MOST of these answers on here the man (it doesn't matter about his d*** religion) was tased for one good h*** of a reason. The fact that he was asked to show his id or leave the library, to which he would not comply. Once he would not comply the officers had a right to arrest the individual if the individual did not cooperate then he was tased.

By the way I doubt that the officers went up to him asked him if he was Muslim when he replied yes they tased him. He was tased for a perfectly good reason. Next time hopefully he will cooperate or he will be tased again, or worse beat with a asp, maybe even shot if he does something stupid.

As an ex-cop gazing that, it would not look justified. feels like the guy exchange into under the impact of alcohol and he exchange into being administered a sobriety attempt or a seek incident to the arrest. i could ought to confirm greater, or be attentive to greater approximately it, yet this guy did not look like he exchange into threatening or achievable to the officer in any way. i won't be in a position to think of of any reason this suspect deserved this greater point of rigidity. I in many circumstances lean in direction of regulation enforcement and haven't any appreciate for drunks or criminals and that i even have confidence that profession criminals ought to be denied their citizenship and could ought to earn it lower back, yet . . . This needs to be appeared into greater beneficial. quite some criminal duty with a peace officer's activity - it is one area the place the officer sounds like he have been given annoyed and made a foul selection. happy i'm not doing that anymore.

I believe he got what he deserved. He needs to understand that he has a responsibility to follow instructions. He was belligerent and combative from the start. He was hyper-sensitive and should have followed instructions of the police.

Hopefully, he learned a lesson about being responsible for his actions (but I doubt it). He should never receive a dime from his frivolous lawsuits. UCLA should not yield.

I believe he should have gotten up calmly, walked to his dorm and gotten his ID card, returned and politely showed it. Instead of shrieking like a 9 year old schoolgirl when one of the UCPD touched his arm. And I saw the video, and read all the ridiculous comments. This kid needed to shut up and follow instructions, how does he ever think he will get ahead in life acting like a total tool?

Failing to follow the instructions from a duly sworn officer of the law is called noncompliance, letting your body go limp and laying like a lump is resisting arrest. No reason my foot....

No reason? The are rules to follow no matter who you are, what religion you are, or where you are at. Apparently this guy thought he didn't have to follow the rules. Failure to follow rules produces consequences. For him the consequences was getting to ride the lightning for 5 second jolts. You would think after the first time he would have learned his lesson and gotten his stupid butt up and out of there like he was asked.

Although, he was definately being unruly, it is going to be hard to justify tazering someone who is already in handcuffs. This kid is going to get paid. The arrest appears to be good, but once the bracelets are on, the game is over.

He got "tazered" for a damn good reason. He wasn't cooperating nor was he going to cooperate. He should've done what he was told to do.

No reason? He was asked for ID and refused to show it, then started making a huge scene.

They were doing random ID checks, nothing wrong with that

It certainly looked terrible and an abuse of his civil rights. But the film does not give enough information to understand what was happening there.
