which has mostly goth, dark clothing.
I just asked him would you shop in there? He stepped in front of the store, and looked, and said: I don't like it in there.
Now, that is God at work, because innocent children are of the Light, and they bring it whereever they go. Did this happen to anyone else?

I didn't take him in there nor did I force him. We were passing by the store, and then I asked him would you shop there?

That could be the reason, but keep in mind that it's not exactly a child-friendly store. And the music is really loud. Many children see it as dark, scary, cramped, and basically unenjoyable. (Although I have seen children who see it as little more than grownups in costumes and funny makeup.) Also, Hot Topic isn't a 'goth' store; they mostly sell pop-punk, 'emo', nu-metal, new punk, and screamo music and related paraphernalia. And 'goth' doesn't mean what I think you think it means. I am a Christian goth, and you can visit goth.net if you would like to know more about the subculture. With all respect and goodwill, I hope you have a nice day.

Honestly, Hot Topic really isn't a store built for small children anyways. I shop there often for shirts and such, but I wouldn't ever take a child in there or get anything for one there, unless it was one of the band shirts, but most of those are inappropriate for children as well. I'm not sure if I'd want a 5yo walking around in a black trench coat covered in sewed on badges saying stuff like "F**K the mainstream" while wearing a ICP shirt. Children don't need to be exposed to that side of culture. When they are old enough to understand the meaning behind the gothic-industrial culture, then they might venture into the depths of a store like that. Even online gothic-industrial community groups are usually for 14yo+ or 18yo+. I'm a member of VampireFreaks.com and trust me, I wouldn't want anyone much younger than 15 there. It's a side of culture not suited for those too young to understand it.

Excuse me?
Goth is not evil, but that is not the quandary here.
Hot Topics is an adult store. They sell a lot of adult themed items which are not appropriate for under 10. Do you take your child into Frederick's of Hollywood or Victoria's Secret?
Children tend to like bright colors and flashy lights. This is why Toys'r'us and Toy Barn are so tacky. They attract children who are not interested in quality. This is why cookies look like play doh.
So your son has a real reason for not going into the store.
Try not to let your views cover your child's intellect before it gets started ok?

Nope, not God at work at all, just fear of the unknown.
Most children are afraid of dark or dimly lit places, shadows allow their imagination to play tricks on them.
If someone brings light with them where ever they go, they need never fear the dark.

No. All my kids have to see are the T-shirts with the Muppets on them and they're sold on the place. Why are you projecting your prejudices and superstitions onto the innocence of a 4-year-old?He probably just said he didn't want it to go in so you'd take him to McDonalds/Toys R Us/home sooner

What an unintelligent thing to say. Hot Topic is not a bad place, for crying out load they sell Rainbow Britte t-shirts. My son loves going there and he's only 5, obviously he was raised with an open mind. I teach him not to judge others by their appearance and that's it's perfectly fine to be different.

You can think its anyone at work, but my 5 year old daughter thinks the place is "awesome" and i didn't force her to go in. Its the preference of the child, some like the dark stuff, some don't. Stop thinking g-d is at work in every part of your existance.....

ok, I'm 20 and I refuse to go in Hot Topic. Nothing to do with God, just ugly clothing and junk. And all the lights and **** probably scared him.

So kids don't like dark colors. Nothing wrong with that. But it doesn't prove god's existence any more than that old banana.
It just proves that they haven't yet developed a fashion sense. Although I'm not sure I'd say that not liking goth means you DON'T have fashion sense!
EDIT: Extra thumbs up to Kjelstad for making me laugh hard enough that my eyeliner is now running and I look like a coon. But it was worth it.
