Even though Tylenol 3 is better than regular Tylenol, it still can't keep up with a tooth ache. For a tooth ache you need Vicoden or something equivalent. Call your dentist & see if he will call in a prescription for you. I don't think anything will help as far as over the counter pain medication. If you can pin point the exact tooth, you might try some of the numbing medications the drug stores sell.
Good luck

You will have to take the Tylenol 3 (which contains codeine) less often. You could take some Ibuprofen now, but you'd need to wait another 3 hours before you could take the Tylenol 3 again. Then 3 hours later, you could take some more Ibuprofen. You do not want to take either of them more often that that.

Be careful not to take too much acetaminophen. I had the same problem you do a couple of days ago. Now, although my tooth feels somewhat better, I have terrible nausea and can't keep anything down. I took too many different pain meds containing acetaminophen (Tylenol 3, ibuprofen, vicodin).
Try an icepack on the face or clove oil.

no tylenol 3 has codene in it and if you take something else while the codene is still in your system it could make things a lot worse for you. such as having a real bad reaction to both medicines in your system. tylenol 3 is very strong. I too had to take that and my physician had informed me not to mix that with anything else as it is strong. I feel bad for you as I know how painful the toothache can be. I wish I had an answer for you to take something else, the only thing I could do was to keep myself occupied till the time came when I could take another one. Good luck to you. I hope your tooth is better for the holidays, try to have a good Thanksgiving okay?

Switch to an ibuprofen.....such as Advil. You can interchange them every few hours.....but do not take more than the recom. dose of the Tylenol. You really don't want liver problems and that's what will happen if you take to much and tax your liver. Hopefully the Advil will reduce some of the internal swelling of the tooth and give you some relief.

Tylenol 3 has codeine in it. That's a narcotic. Use with caution and not for long periods of time.
Two hours after dosing, you can take ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil) or naproxen sodium (Aleve)
You could also purchase a topical analgesic like OraJel to numb the area in your mouth that is painful.
Should have also said to rinse with hydrogen peroxide solution (mix it half and half with water) to keep the area clean and help to reduce infection.
