Get your eyes off the world and back on Jesus. He didn't go anywhere you are the one that had to have walked away... Jim

It does take some discipline until it becomes a way of life. I think most important is to start the day with God. Spend some time in prayer, read your Bible and maybe a devotional everyday when you frst get out of bed. It doesn't have to be long. Keep conversing with God throughout the day over every thing that happens. I think that sort of thing is a minimum, then sometime through the day you should work in a little Bible study, some memory work, and some time for intercessory prayer.
There is only one thing that separates ys from our relationship with God and that is sin. If you feel like you are drifting away, examne your life, is there something you are doing that not what God would want? if so, deal with it.

Since you (the true essence of yourself) is a part of the Devine Oneness, you can never NOT be close to the Devine Oneness. It's only your ego keeping you thinking that you're alone, drifting farther away from your Source.

Whatever works for you to bring yourself closer to the Devine Oneness, do. Try meditation. Meditation is not "thinking of nothing." It's a way of quieting the chatter of the ego, cleaning the connection between you and the Devine Oneness. Prayer has devolved into nothing more than begging. Meditation now is what prayer once was.

If you want books to read to help you, look for Eckhart Tolle, Wayne Dyer, Dali Lama, Dan Millman, and others who may resonate with what you're looking for.

Reading the Bible and talking to God through prayer are very good ways to keep close to him. They both should be done every day. Also associating regularly with others who love him and are trying t do his will helps a person to have peer pressure which helps rather than hurts their relationship with God.

read Jeremiah 29:11 - 14. inspired by a previous answer. it outlines a spiritual truth that is very comforting.

as for things to do:

eating = reading the bible. it's ''food'' for the spirit.
prayer = breathing
worship = rest
sharing your faith with those who are interested = exercise.

the right actions bring about the right feelings, not the other way around (Rev. 2:5)

and the fear of the Lord leads to life. then, one rests content, untouched by evil. (somewhere in Proverbs)

Hi, here is a truth that you should think upon and see if it is even possible to fall away,
you are Gods dream, He loved you into His existence, and because you have been born,His dream has been realized.
He calls you by your name and He whispers,`You are Mine` I love you to the point of distraction, and I would die for you alone, I love You this much.
think on this because it is the truth and then put your trust in He who holds you in the very palm of His Hand.

be at peace,You are a child of God.

Your best bet is to learn to think for yourself and acknowledge that there is no good reason to believe that a god exists at all.

This will help free you from the darkness of superstition and this sort of pointless worry. Truth is the first step to finding true meaning in life.

How about becoming a Deist? You can believe in God and believe in science at the same time.

With Deism, you can have your cake and eat it too.

Deism; belief in God should be based upon science, reason, and logic. The Supreme Being has created the universe perfectly, thus cthe fundamental laws and nature of the universe remains constant and unmutable. Champion the seperation of Chuch and State...

I know it sounds cliche but prayer, prayer and more prayer.

Union with God can seem impossible but we, as Christians, need to realize that God tests our faith to see where our loyalty is. When you run through hard times like these you should run even faster towards God, even if you don't feel like it. Satan can steal your joy, peace and comfort but God never leaves nor forsakes you. Keep strong and keep fighting! Peace be with you.
