Kids love apples, orange and bananas. Those are favorites for most children. Other than that you can always go with a regular fruit platter they sell at market. Grapes and strawberries are also something children enjoy. Some people use yogurt as a dip for fruit platters as well. Some fruit holds up well in the refrigertaor, but not apples or bananas so much. Apples tend to brown and bananas actually stay fresh longer in the refrigerator, but turn brown on the outside.

Some fruit tends to discolor when left overnight, even if placed in the fridge.
So the use of more acidic fruits will be easier and last better.
Oranges are popular and keep well when broken up into sections. Plums, Grapes and Kiwi fruit all keep well and look good together, and are favorites of the younger set.
Setup the plate with the orange sections on the outside and then the grapes, and then the Kewpie and finally the plums and it will look appealing and catch the attention of the kids.
Hope they all have a fun day!
Dale

Some fruits will be OK by tomorrow but it has to be sealed real well. Melons are a favorite with kids along with a fruit dip. Others that go well with fruit dip are strawberries. Don't use apples or banana if you want to make it tonight.

think color...red and green grapes...pinapple... orange pieces.
Half a whole pineapple. Take out fruit and cut into cubes.
Fill empty shells with the fruit .
Cover with plastic wrap to transport.
Store Left over fruit (that will not fit into shells)in ziplock bag for dinner and snacks
Hint... to make the night before...just give fruit a quick dip in a quart of cold water with a tblsp of lemon juice sqeezed in.

It will be good but if you add bananas, wait until morning to put them in. Mix together: orange sections cut-up, peeled apples cut up, strawberries and bananas sliced. Mix in a carton of vanilla yoghurt and if you have some fresh mint chop a little in it. Bagged frozen fruit is a great shortcut :)

Use grapes, pears and bananas.
Cut the ends off the bananas, Slice the peel, lenghtwise, but do not open it. Cut each banana (crosswise) into fourths. Do not peel.
Cut the pear into slices, instead of wedges.
Remove the grapes from the stems.
If you can't do it in the morning, so it's fresh; it's better to buy a fruti tray from the store.

Pineapple
Cantaloupe

Preparing the fruit platter one night ahead should be fine. The grocery store sells fruit trays that they have already prepared.

When you're at the store go to the baking Isle and get "Fruit Fresh" it keeps the fruit from oxidizing (browning). For a short period of time you can use Lemon juice.

It will be fine if you make it tonight. Just make sure you cover it and refrigerate it until time to take it. However, if you are planning on using them, bananas need to be sprinkled with lemon juice so they won't turn brown.
