The is one way to get it for free; it is called stealing and that is illegal. Unless you can find a company giving away old memory, you will have to pay for a memory upgrade. There are various sites that will help you figure out what type of memory you need. Start with your computer manufacturer website (I.E. dell.com, hp.com) You could also try website for various memory manufacturers. You cannot upgrade your RAM from a website. You can only buy more from one.

There are laws against usury in this country. Nobody expects free credit, but we do deserve rates that are not usurious and practices that are transparent. The free market is an idea, not a reality. Like a road map, it provides an overview but it is not to be mistaken for the actual land. The fact is that the market needs to be regulated; if it is not done by an outside agency, it will be gamed by the participants. Like the S&Ls, Enron, housing and on and on. You should really take a second to reflect on why you are taking the sides of huge financial companies that do not have our best interests in mind over those of the average consumer. It seems illogical.

I know of no sites offering free computer hardware upgrades. I would never trust one if I found it.
Most places offering free stuff on the Internet is never really free. You would most likely need to register your email address. Then you will get tons of SPAM in your in-box.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Hi Josh
Why not see if there is a recycling group near you that you can ask on?

No, but if you find a place please let me know. Also, you'd have to go to 512MB rather than 500MB.
