yes, our purpose is to "prosper and multiply".
of course, part of prospering is feeling good about yourself, knowing you're doing the right thing, have appoval of people around you, etc. Religion or other form of "higher purpose" really helps with that.

No. I don't believe we were 'put' here at all. I believe we are just the natural consequence of our respective biological progenitors having sexual intercourse or other procreation all the way to the beginning of life some 3.5 billion years ago -- in fact, we are literally the same chemical reaction that started all those years ago, it never stopped, it just changed and diversified into a countless array of self-contained units.
Life is purposeless from the outside, because there is no outisde. There is only the purpose we find for ourselves.

Not specifically, as in a script for our life. I believe we place ourselves in situations in which we can make a difference that blesses the heart of God and benefits all of mankind. I believe we only have two very vague purposes: 1) Learning about this world in which we were placed (which would include learning about God). 2) Developing a relationship with God. Beyond that, it's all up to us.

It is said in the Vedas that only 1/4 of the souls come here (the less intelligent ones) God is love and love means free will. We envied Gods position and so He Created the material world for those who want to try to be Him. There is no hate or envy in the spiritual world. HE gave us the laws of nature but we misuses them and then we get our reaction to our actions (Karma) The Purpose of human life is to reconnect with Our creator God , Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. One God many names and forms. That's His unlimited nature. We have unlimited time to reconnect but we should use our God Given intelligence to go back home at the end of this life. Its just a bad deal here.Any one who thinks it's not is covered by the veils of illusion. (Maya) Go to http://www.stephen-knapp.com for universal truths.

There is no purpose to life, life exist because it can. Just as I'm sure that in some other universes out there life does not exist because it can't.

Yes our purpose is to glorify God and His kingdom.
He created us for relationship with Him first and foremost...and then with others. We don't do well as hermits. We are social animals :o)
