Are they mentioned at all in the Bible? Did God create them and kill them off himself? If not, how do Christians explain archeological findings?

They're mentioned in the Bible I think in the way that a primitive society would write about dinosaurs. As giant beast and dragons and so forth.

If you listen to most Christians rhetoric about the dinosaurs, you'll realize they cannot reconcile archaeological findings with their own beliefs. Many of them deny the existence of dinosaurs all together. Some say they're not as old as science has claimed. Some even say they lived on other planets and when G*d used the material to make the earth he took the bones with it.

The fact of the matter is we are living with people who use an outdated reference guide for life. They cannot admit that they've been had. The earth is not 6000 years old. The earth is not 10,000 years old. Dinosaurs DID exist. And we evolved from a species similar to ourselves.

I won't claim G*D did not create the dinosaurs....as I don't know.
And I won't claim science is perfect....we all know it's not.
But when you take the overwhelming preponderance of evidence and throw it all out the window because of a book your mommy told you was true.....well, that's just stupid.

Most dinosaurs were created on day six when the land animals were created. They would have been included on the Ark (young dinosaurs could fit easily) and probably died out during the Ice Age following the Flood (which is when the fossils would have begun being made) and maybe bc of hunting. There are cave drawings of what appear to be brontosaurus, indicating we lived alongside them. Additionally, the dragon legends we have may be embellished tales of encounters with dinosaurs.

The book of Job describes the behemoth and leviathan. The behemoth has a tail that "sways like a cedar," most likely a brontosaurus. The leviathan resembles a dinosaur of the sea, I imagined an ichthyosaur when I read it.

The word "dinosaur" was first used in 1841. The word was not known before then. However, other words were used in the Scriptures for large animals/reptiles/etc. and even give some vivid descriptions ... including one that had a tail like a cedar tree. Scoffers and skeptics say that is a description of an elephant. Ever see an elephant with a tail like a cedar tree?

How about these huge creatures?
tanniyn, behemoth, and Leviathan

And, how do skeptics explain archaeological drawings and other findings of dinosaur-like creatures; drawings and other findings made by humans?

There are many creatures now "extinct"; most of them killed off by humans. Some may have disappeared because of climate change, etc.

The word dinosaur, as such, is not found in the Bible. There are biblical references to unknown animals. For instance, a creature called "behemoth" is described in Job 40: 15-24.

The Bible mentions two dinosaurs by name and describes them in great detail. "Behemoth" (Job 40:15-24) and "Leviathan" (Job 41:1-34) From the description found in Job.

Tanniyn occurs 28 times in the Bible and is normally translated “dragon.” It is also translated “serpent,” “sea monster,” “dinosaur,” “great creature” and “reptile.”

I don't know if they are mentioned in other places or not but in Genesis 1:20-21 it tells of the seas and sky's being filled with living creatures and great sea monsters. In verse 24 the creatures are created on the earth. If you read Genesis thinking of a day as an eternal God could think of it, as a day being 10,000 or more years, You can see that it is all in the right order as evolutionists explain it. Even the big bang theory might apply. The only real difference is that I believe that there is God that caused it all to happen. The Bible also says that we will understand all when we are with him. We are to live by faith until then

The Bible doesn't have a stance of dinosaurs. Christians usually make one of their own. I once read a post on this site that claimed dinosaur bones were placed on earth by Satan in order to confuse humans.

If you're willing to consider that parts of Book of Genesis are a bit allegorical (yet divine!), then dinosaurs need not be mentioned specifically. Those who insist the Bible is literal from cover to cover, therefore throwing the possibility of guided evolution away, will always have a problem with this.

Science has shown that dinosaurs and humans didn't co-exist, and that million-year evolution did take place. This still fits fine with an image of God.

Prior to Genesis – Dinosaurs

I believe that God created upon this earth PRIOR TO Genesis 1:1-31, 2:1-3.

I believe God destroyed all prior creation (Gen.1:2) to bring forth man created in God's likeness (Gen.1:26), with an UNBROKEN lineage beginning with Adam.

Dinosaurs were long extinct before language was invented. The writters had no idea about dinosaurs. It was only in this past century, that scientists began digging up thier bones, and we in the modern world are aware that many strange creatures lived eons ago. Dinosaurs are a scientific fact, whats the bible have to do with it?

good question people who believe in the literal interpretation fo the Bible claim either that dinosaurs were destroyed in the flood or that they never existed. I have heard some people say dinosaur bones were placed in the ground by the devil to tempt us.

However, there are no mentions of dinosaurs in the Bible. In a couple of very quick, non detailed one line references, the Bible does mention some large monstrous creatures. I find the argument to be pitiful. I am sure that someone will bring it up in this board soon.

In rare passages a monstrous creature is mentioned and people think this is proof that Bible is discussing dinosaurs...that is just nuts.
