I believe an outstanding person consists of many variables....and here are just a few

Truth-When you stand for truth and your straight and don't faulter...your outstanding.

Honesty-When you can believe within yourself to give the best answer to your ability with tact and compassion...
your outstanding.

Love-When you can love yourself and project that love onto others unconditionally and consistently...
your outstanding.

When you can be outgoing, social, disciplined, and embelish the above qualities......like myself......and people want to be around you....pat yourself on the back.....because you truly are outstanding!!

of course this is my personal opinion.

Someone who understands that his or her existence is not the main point. The main point is that we develop our talents/gifts for the benefit of others. One who is musically a prodigy must put their energy and focus on becoming a professional who plays/sings for the pleasure of others - and theirselves. We hear so much about the great singers, actors, dancers, etc. who pay a hefty price for loss of privacy, inability to sustain a love relationship, unable to sail their own life ship and people often say, "If he was my child I would not have let him go into showbusiness." Thankfully parents don't have that control. A great singer, whether Sinatra, Garland or Streisand MUST sing for us. It is a god given responsibility. And, regardless of the "sins" of the lifestyle, I believe that people such as the above three can be called "outstanding" because they give it until there is no more to give. That Streisand is living a balanced life and will continue to do so does not negate the importance of the price a Garland or a Billie Holliday paid because, as I see it, geniuses such as they OWE it to mankind. All were outstanding in the highest meaning of the word.
So were Mother Teresa, Dr. King and Cesar Chavez among thousands of others whose presence changed the world. Human moral frailties as alleged with Dr. King have no import given what he did.

An outstanding person must have honor, integrity, wisdom, and empathy. My granddad once told me that it was very simple to be a good man. He stated the following: "If its not yours, don't take it; if it is not true, don't say it; if it is wrong, don't do it". Good words to live by.
