Godfrey is pronounced as God + free with the stress on God. I have never heard people pronounce Godfrey as Geoffrey. They are different names.

Geoffrey is pronounced like Jeffrey. Godfrey is pronounced like God Free.

Godfrey and Geoffrey are not similar, I'm going with everyone else with "GodFree", maybe thats what it means?
