unless he is eating licorice, no - visit a dentist and get this checked out it may be nothing to worry about and easily resolved.

I have heard of this and it is usually the fact that the gums are bruised and swollen where the teeth are coming through. Molars have two sides to burst through the gum opposed to the one of other teeth and this can cause the bruising. It can worsen if pressure is put on it, like a teething ring. It can also be quite painful. Best to take him to the dentist though for a proper opinion as this is just what I've heard from other mums.
Hope this helps!!

I don't think you have anything to worry about. It sounds like a "bruise" is all, they can look black on the gums. They are relativly harmless pools of dead blood under the gum where the tooth is coming in. You are seeing a dentist and if he/she is concerned then they can open the gum and allow the bllod to escape. It is "normal" and just a part of teething. It is no reflection on you as a parent or what you are feeding your child.

have you tried brushing his teeth and gums, it could be possible there is nothing wrong and he has just been chewing on a black crayon, or something else that has discoloured his teeth, but yes if its still there after brushing go to the dentist for your own peace of mind and while your thier ask them for advice on the care of his teeth and what you should be expecting, they will probably have leaflets they can give you with advice on, most importantly don't worry

When I was young I freaked my parents out in a similar way. In places where I had no teeth but there were teeth above or below, my gums did similar things. Aparently, my constant biting my gums turned them blackish. It sounds weird, but who knows. What happened to me may have absolutely nothing to do with your son, but as long as you are going to the dentist tomorrow I certainly would't panic.

I have seen this happen to a lot of children and adults who are perfectly healthy but I understand your concern so take your baby to the dentist to be safe :)
