yelling, screaming, attention to detail, grooming habits (ridiculed), mind games, a lot of "hurry up and wait" games...etc.. Basically the same in any academy or boot camp.

Law enforcement is considered paramilitary, as in they are structured like the military. When I went through the academy, it was PT (physical training) first thing in the morning. We had formations and all the good stuff, group runs, etc etc. And then we had to be ready at a certain time, we formed up again and were inspected in our academy uniform. But in mine we still went home every night. Some academies you stay, so I don't know all the specifics that you will be going through but the hard part isn't the academy it's field training, when you get out of the academy.

I hope you are in good physical shape. You will also need help with you kids as you attend the academy. Most academies make cadets write long meticulous memos that will keep you up most nights. Expect to be tired physically, mentally, and emotionally. The tests aren't too bad, but finding time to study in between preperation for the next day and memos can be tough. Your life is going to be the academy for the next few months.

My attitude was, they can't hit me and they can't take my money. A good easy going attitude will get you through this.

Classroom work and physical training (calisthenics with long runs).

Chet is correct. Anything and everything to see how you react to stress.

Good Luck!

You won't last. You'll make it about a week, break a nail, and get washed out.
