When installing both a VCR and DVD player to a TV do you need a modulator?

I already have a VCR and want to add a DVD player. I tried to plug the DVD player into the audio and video jacks on both the VCR and TV, neither worked. I assume I need a RF Modulator????

If your TV doesn't already have the A/V jacks you find on the back of your VCR, then you'll need an RF modulator.
