This will most likely sound pretty lame, but it concerns me!
My boyfriend is really shy, and he always has been. Whenever he hugs me, I just feel like I'm hugging another one of my guy friends. It's too much of a 'friendly hug.' Since he's so shy, we never really talk about hugging and kissing and that sort of thing. If I grabbed his hands and put them lower on my hips next time we hug, would he get the hint, or would he still hug me the same. I don't know if he would get it or not. Otherwise, what would work, without having to confront him. I know I sound like a coward, but I don't want to embarass him or make him feel like a bad boyfriend, because he really isn't.
(We're both freshmen.)

Young Love, I like these most of the time, especially since I have a soon-to-be Freshmen, and I am going to be honest with you as if you were my daughter...................Now before I give this so called advice, let me stress, I do not believe in per- Martial sex okay but, I am realistic all the same, now with a hug or even a kiss sometimes they have to be taught the way you like it, I mean if you do not tell him that you feel like you are hugging your brother how will he know? When you go in for the hug yes place his hands where you would like them to be, it's okay if you take the lead sometimes, but the thing is you really do need to to talk to him about it, by him being shy, it's cool I am sure it will make him feel a little better that you want him to feel like a boy friend not a brotherly thing, you know? God:)) you're boyfriend is a freshman and doesn't know how to hug?:)) I mean it's one thing not knowing how to kiss or other stuff... but hugging someone is so... I don't know easy... When you hug a friend the hug must not take more than 2 seconds, no squeezing, but when you hug your girlfriend you have to squeeze a little but not to much, to try to give some warmth... By the way... he won't get a hint with that hand on the hips thing... u should just tell him, or try to hug him, maybe then he'll get a clue.

yeah, there's nothing wrong with showing him what you want. being more direct and open will probably help him to be the same way. good luck girl!
