I think people are getting smarter and more disenchanted but i don't think we are evolving into a god-less society. I see more and more people question religion over the belief in God or spirituality. It is healthy to question religion and belief inorder to find your place within it, but i think the more people learn about the function of religion then the more they understand its role in society and support it. I had this conversation with someone over lunch today.

Losing credibility? Yeah, and it's been going on since the Enlightenment. Religion has LOST its credibility, a long time ago. Science and technology STILL work better than myths, and although society is transformed by this, religious institutions stubbornly have not. Unless they do, educated people will continue to abandon them. Churches have always relied on ignorance, and they amazingly still do. I think that's sad, because the old religions do have something to offer. It's just that they're still offering it in a format that appeals to medieval peons, not modern people who can read books.

My idea is that we'll "evolve" into not a "God-less" society, but one where it's accepted as necessary that spirituality is personal and diverse, not a matter of church-club membership.

We are certainly becoming a more intelligent, logic and informed society. Religions have done nothing to give them credibility. A lot of them have shown themselves as being corrupt, prejudice and hypocritical. We have seen what religion has done to society in the past and people will no longer put up with it.

I hope that for the sake of humanity we do become a godless society soon.

Becoming a " God-less society '? I would say not. Since there are so many people expressing an active interest in religion, I wouldn't call us 'God-less'

Smarter? we have the option of being more knowledgeable, do to our more advanced media. But I don't think we'd be any smarter. We're still killing each other over the most ridiculous of reasons.

We have learned the scientific reasons for many things that were once considered God Magic like why it rains, why the sun sets and rises, how earthquakes happen, etc. We don't know all the answers, but we haven't stopped learnimg them. The is no reason to believe that if we don't know something that the only solution is God did it. Consider how many wars have been fought the name of religion. Maybe we would be better off if no one had a god belief!

I was raised as a pretty devout Catholic, but I started having my doubts. So I started learning about all of the world's religions and traveld to China, Africa, and Israel. After all my studies and travelling, I've become an atheist.

Relgions cause so much pain and suffering and stand in the way of science that can really be used to help people.

Read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. It'll change your life.

We should question religions. Why not? Aren't we suppose to look for the truth?

I have found the Truth in Christ. That is not only my religion, but my Faith and no bashing could take that away.

It's my theory that it has become popular to bash religions, especially at colleges. People assume that I am blindly following the word of an out of date book.

Well, I'll tell the whole world that I do believe that the bible is relevant today and that my faith is not blind! The greatest of the commandments is to love the Lord my God with all my strength, heart, and MIND!

Seek the truth everyday.

Too many people blame so many things on religious beliefs, etc that every day the meaning of "religion" seems to change. Forget "religious beliefs" and get back to the basics of "follower of Christ" Heed God's Word and live by it. Then we would all be on the same page. Unbelievable? Yes of course because too many of us want to be smarter/superior to others. God did not ordain it that way.
