An exfriend of my son has used my son's name for a few traffic situations, and the boy has done it before. Now we have to go to court three hours away. Is there anything we can do? I do have police reports & newspaper aricles show where the ex-friend has used my son's name. Please help!! We really do not want this on his record. The wild thing, when I called the court the lady that I talked to said that we can make it all go away for $210.00, or we should bring the boy that was speeding with us.

The boy did not show Id. The boy knows my son's birthdate(9-11) because they grow-up together and born the same year.

Take it from an expert on getting traffic tickets of all types, the police always make the person show a driver's license, ALWAYS. If you do not have a valid driver's license with you, the police do not let you leave, they take you to jail.
The officer that wrote the ticket will be in court the day of the trail, if he admits that he did not check ID, the case should be thrown out.
Good Luck

They cannot prosecute your son without proof of wrong doing. If your son allowed the person to use his ID Drivers license, this will be a good lesson for him in the future. Call the other boy's parents and let them know whats going on as well.Paying money won't make the problem go away either-- if this kid keeps using your son's name, you will keep being called in. Good luck

Sounds fishy to me, how did a guy who was speeding not have to show his license? Did he just say his name and the cops took his word for it. honestly, that sounds a little too far out there. not saying your son did it, but come on, cops don't take you for your word as to who you are. your son was either driving or the guy stole your son's ID. You need to figure out which one it was before you go to court

Who gets tickets without showing ID? That is completely bogus. Cops can't just arrest you based on what you SAY without evidence. I would suggest pressing formal charges against the boy again for falsification.

You need to have witnesses that can account for your son's exact whereabouts, dates, times he was with his friends or at home and bring them with you to the court.

Also you might want to get a lawyer to help handle this case. If your son is found inocent, I would do a counter suit against his ex friend who started these lies and sue him for slander (using your sons name when he was infact not there), and harrasment. Also if your son is found inocent, you can also sue his ex friend for your lawyer fees.

Good Luck :-)

a few traffic situations? Wouldn't the cop making out the ticket check his id?( driver's license)

soemthing doesn't make sense your in question.

Again, with your edits, your story doesn't make sense at all

ALL cops require ID in order to issue tickets.
So, if the boy was caught speeding, whose id did he show?
