Word, Excel, etc. have nothign to do with Vista or Media Center Edition. Those are part of the Microsoft Office suite, which you can buy and install on any flavor of Windows.
That being said, whatever you buy will probably come with MS Office 2003 or 2007 Student and Teacher 60 day trial version. That is standard on all OEM builds these days.
Don't confuse the operating system (OS) with productivity software.

Here is what you get:
For Everyone: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/default.mspx
For Home:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsvista/features/forhome/default.mspx
For Business:

MS Office is NOT included with Windows Vista. So no WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, ect. You'd have to buy and install that seperately. If you found this answer helpful, please be so kind as to rate my answer the best!!

Usually computers come with the OS, but not Microsoft Office...it sometimes will have Microsoft suite (a weaker version of Office). You will somehow have to get the Office installed yourself or the vendor will do so at a cost.

Generally, MS Office components (e.g. word, excel) are not included in packages unless specifically listed. They are not a part of Windows.
