You have my sympathy, you can appeal the refusal, but bear in mind that there is alot of negative press at the moment due to the goverments under estimation of immigrants they would allow. Go talk to the CAB, they will be able to point you in the right direction.

I feel sorry for you for some of the nasty answers you got. Nevertheless, if, after 7 years of you trying, both UNHCR and the Goverment (which one, by the way USA, UK, Ireland?) believe you can safely go back to your country, I very much doubt a lawyer might help.
I feel pretty sure you have very good reasons for not wanting to go back, but most probably those reasons do not entitle you to become a refugee. The Geneva convention, on which the status is based, and which you should read, is very clear as regards to the relevant motives of application.
Not like most others here, I DO feel sorry that developed countries might not cope with all the problems around the world. I definitely believe we should and could do more. But life is life... and you have to make do with it. Good luck (and I mean it).

Unfortunately, the term asylum seeker has been abused much by immigrants to the UK which by what the clues I read is the country you reside in now. You say you have been here 7 years, so what reasons are you being sent back to your country of origin?
Just saying you been here 7 years and have friends and think it is nice in the the United Kindom do not alone give you rights of residency.
If you could explain your case more in detail then maybe you will find the sort of help you may need. Your orginal country maybe be in trouble but perhaps the Home Office don't find you personally in danger there but you escaped for a better life not because you were at great risk.

1. If your asylum request is being turned down sounds like your reasons are not good enough.

2. You want to settle here after making friends. But what made you want to come here in the first place? I have a hard time relating to anyone wanting to settle in any land where the government or people doesn't want them.

3. Unfortunately, the mess you're in is of your own making. If you had legitimate reasons to come here, why did you enter illegally?

4. You can't go back to your country because it has problems? Have you looked around the country you're in lately? Is it free of problems?

Having said all the above, if you really do have a very good reason for escaping your native country and really do need life saving protection, I truly wish you luck. God speed.

I suspect you have been refused for quite some time as it doesn't take 7 years to process an application.

Also that a solicitor was provided free of charge by the government.

It's time to go home I'm afraid.

However, look on the bright side, you made some great friends and learnt very good English.

To be honest I dont know what you think you will achieve posting on this site. Is this a question asking for sympathy? Not sure what you hope to get? This is a Q & A site, not an appeal process. Put you concentration into a fight if your going to try and stay. Just remember, if you are one of the good ones that has worked and contributed to the state instead of bleeding it dry, then good luck. If otherwise you have claimed benefits for 7 yrs then quite honestly good riddance cos 7yrs should be enough to have settled into a job and not get refused your citizenship. Sorry to be sceptical. If im wrong then good luck!

If Home Office tells you to leave UK,sooner or later you'll get caught, detained and deported.
No solicitor would be able to help you,so until you have some time and you are "free" try to escape to Canada. You can easily be granted political asylum there. Good luck!

Exactly what country are you from. Id love to hear the details of the opprehsion and why 'geographically' you could not of gone somewhere a little closer to home.

How can anyone give me a thumbs down for this. i hope you were joking. It is a serious question. Why do people from countries where they are 'persecuted' feel in neccesary to travel all the way to britain. Is this one of those questions that liberals dont like; mainly because they already know the answer.

How many countries have you crossed just to get here? Are you not supposed to apply for asylum in the first country you escape to? This country does not send people back to dangerous places.

What do you call a "problem"? During your stay, have you seen any problems here?

Any chances of the 7yrs hand outs being returned before you go?

If it has taken you 7 years to try and leave this country, and still haven`t succeded, I would advise you to obtain a good Britsh road atlas which should show all airpots and ports. From there you should be able to purchase a ticket to whichever destination you wish to travel to. (hopeully) If you canno afford the ticket to leave I am sure the goverment will be able to assist you in some way. I hope I have given you some usefull information to help you on you way and good luck in your new country.

You didn't say why you needed asylum seven years ago, or were you just an economic refugee,
Perhaps get in touch with a racial equality officer for advise or the Home Office. Mrs Blair is known for making money out of asylum cases she is a solicitor.
