I pretty near did. He prevented me, I guess, without my knowing Him. But I'm as guilty before Him as if I had done it. And as forgiven before Him as if I had never thought of it.

Christianity does more than just restrain people's murderous urges (rolling eyes.) This is not a good question because you don't expect a real answer, it's just trying to imply that Christianity is wrong or useless. It has many benefits other than simply teaching people not to murder - obviously. Do you honestly expect people to read that, think about it, and say "wow, it's true - I probably wouldn't murder people even if I wasn't a Christian... I'm going to be an Athiest now!" Christians know that's not why they believe in God.

If you are referring to the general Population who are Christian and have been thru the ages then likely I would say the history would have been more or less the same . If you are referring to individuals then again it would have been more or less the same . the reason being the society would have evolved pretty much as it is today . after all there are other people in the world who have not heard from a Christian priest and they are the same .

Are you serious? Religion very rarely has anything to do with PREVENTING murder. People are just generally good by nature, and killing goes against our natures.

I mean, look at the post-traumatic stress disorders from veterans of wars. Or how some convicts go crazy because they couldn't live with what they did.

Not all but some have told me that it is their religion that keeps them from doing really wrong things like stealing and murder. That's a pretty scary thought, the fact that they need religion and fear of punishment to do the right thing. That is scarier than an actual convict in my mind.

If we never learned about God would not mean God or the evil does not exist.

Interesting question, my friend! Hopefully you will not be reported!

I think the same question could well be posed to anyone following any patriarchal monotheistic religion.

Civilized people generally have an innate goodness, with or without a belief of or knowledge of God........so no, I probably wouldn't have.
