My girlfriend is kind of pissed off at me because I do not want to attend church with her and I explained that God knows what's in my heart and not attending church does not make me a bad person. She says that I never talk about God and stuff and I told her that it does not mean I do not believe in Him or that I am not as good as she is. Thoughts about it please.

Guess it depends on who your asking. I agree with how you feel, its between you and God, not you and a church. I dont think it makes you a bad person.

Maybe you shoudl tell your girlfriend. That Christianity is not all about the church. Church is the place wher we gather to honor and worshiphed God. That doesn't mean that you can't worship God anywhere else.
What makes you a better person is when you obey God, and live by what He command you.
I go to Church because after all week at work or take care of my baby, I need encouragement and fellowship from other believer.
You know, I'm more laid back than my husband. He's more passionate about stuff than I am. But when he asked my opinion I will give him my honest and biblical opinion. The good part is, he know what I believe and where my faith is. Maybe that what you should do. Involve more, by telling her what you believe.

You don't have to go to church to believe in GOD. The churches are not doing what they were supposed to do and therefore aren't good sources to find GOD these days. There is way too much corruption and it's hard to know which one is good to go to. As for you not talking about GOD, well she does have a point. If you truely believe in GOD and you claim that GOD knows what's in your heart then you should have no problem informing her of how you know that GOD truely knows you. I pray everyday and I make no shame about it. I read the bible so I know exactly what people are talking about when they try to quote the scriptures. I also don't go around judging people. You should ask your girlfriend why it's so important for her to attend that church and not to attend a reading from home with just you and her. If she declines, I would get another girlfriend due to the fact she is not a true believer. Thank you and GOD bless.

Just because you don't talk about God doesnt mean that you don't have a lot of love for him! I actually think that keeping your faith more within you,its more special because you dont have to share it with anyone else. Going to church doesnt make you a better person, there are some murderers who go to church every week and still kill people! Perhaps you need to ask your girlfriend why it is important to her for you to attend church with her? Also why she feels the need to have to talk about God when she knows you believe?

I have to agree with you (I attend church , but that is my decision I can't expect or think that those who do not attend church are wrong only God can judge afterall he can see the hearts of all men), but why is your girlfriend upset at you for not doing what you don't believe in? From your question I understnd that you believe in God but you arent hot about the idea of being part of organized religion. Didn't she know this before you guys started dating? Some people think they can change people rather than accept them the way they are. Tell your girlfriend in calm words why you aren't keen on the idea and if she still persists on making you attend church with her, explain to her that people who love each other respect each other.

These are my thoughts, others might agree or disagree

I don't attend church either, although I believe in God - if I can remember right, there is a story in the bible about how you should pray in private, and not show it to all (like the priesters used to) - I know it doesn't exaclty fit in, but what I mean to say is it doesn't make you into a bad christian if you don't attend church - and anyway, this is a personal decision if you go to church or not!

This is way I've always looked at it. Believing is a private matter. Since you believe in god you believe in god and do not need to go and show off in front of others. That being said, Churches (should be anyway) as a focal point for community development of like minded people, to give each other support and to give a sense of belonging. These are two very important needs of humans in general.

Also keep in mind, that my opinion is one of an outsider,

Some of the most hypocritical people I know go to church every Sunday. But some of the nicest, most caring people I know never go to church or are not even religious. I'm not saying church is absolutely a bad thing, but just because a person goes or doesn't go doesn't make them a better or worse person.

Again people the church is only a building the people are the church. it doesn't matter if there are ten or ten thousand in attendance god wants us to gather together to praise and worship him. So if you don't get in the word with others then how can you say your a believer in Christ? the bible would say you are a liar! To be saved and born again the holy spirit would not allow you to sit idle, He would not let you stay the same. He would remold you and you write another chapter in your life. YOU SERVE GOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You do not need to go to church to have a relationship with God. In fact, some of the best Christians would have bible studies in each others kitchens because there was no church to go to. Church is just a building that allows the Christian family to get together at a convenient place. Jesus, our Lord, is in our hearts.

I don't think going to church makes you a Christian anymore than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger But the bible says do not forsake the gathering. You need the fellowship, the sharing, and the strengthening of your faith, that you get in church. You also need the daily bible study and prayer to keep your heart open to God's will. Anything else is ignoring Him and that is disrespectful to Him.
