Did you read beyond Genesis? In exodus Miriam gets into trouble for teasing Moses about marrying outside their race. So I think it is safe to say God does not care what race you are as long as they are they same kind, human. Not they have to be the same color.

I always took it to mean humans marry humans. Where is this found?? If it's right after the tower of Babel story, then maybe it does mean race.

You have misquoted the verse, to begin with.
Here are the verses you are looking for:
Gen 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
....
Gen 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
Gen 1:25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that [it was] good.
God is referring to species, obviously. Nowhere in the Bible is there any verse anything like what you posted above.
I hope this helps.

Yes, and all Races should be proud of their roots and continue to populate their Race. No Race is superior to another.

No it means people marry people and not monkies, etc. Each creature breeds with members of it's own species and not other species. Race is not a factor.

No - it means more of a personality match. Just like a rock-n-roller wouldn't marry a bookworm, etc.

I believe that referred more to not marring outside your tribes,
common beliefs and social standards, which at that time in history were important considerations to simple survival

I would say "species" but that's pretty much an obvious answer. I would probably assume that either species or religion was in mind.
