I'm 21 years old, and I swear some of these girls, don't realize the seriousness of becoming pregnant and giving birth. They think its so fun, and every things gonna be so great...and its like...your going to have a baby people!! It makes me sick to my stomach to see young girls like that, because their teenage life is over, regardless if the father sticks around or not. And especially the ones who aren't in school, or attempting to finish high school...what kind of lives will your children have? Why are you taking this so lightly?

And to see them accidentally pop out one kid after another...when their are married couples who would give their everything to be fertile and have a family. Just my little rant, does anyone else have opinions?

I am one of those ppl that had a baby at 18....when looking back at it I wish I would have waited a little longer...but it wasn't intentional either.

My life was not over...I finished high school and went on to college and got a degree. I worked two jobs without any help from anyone and made a life for us. There was no state help involved because I didn't believe it was everyone's problem to fix. I made the situation and I did the best I could.

Now for those that give up on life and live off the state...that is what bothers me!!

I fostered children and I ended up with four kids out of five births from the same mom. I got two at a time. I got two and she had three more and i got two of them, she was actually an older girl in her mid 20 to start off, and I think the reason she did it was to have a toy to play with then couldnt handle them once they grew up. I do know if I didnt have these kids, they might be dead, so I am glad I could save some precious lives. I had 4 already, so now I have 8 kids. ages from 23 to 3 years old,

I also have a neice who had a baby and gave it up for adoption, that is a very hard thing to do, but some girls cant say no to a boy, or they get date raped, it is sad they get into a situation like that, but it does happen, it isnt always just horney girls having babies. every story is different. be a bit more understanding.

I hear ya! You would think that in our day and age and all that is available to them that teenage pregnancy would not be a social issue....How wrong we are! It comes down to practicing abstinence. Birth control is a joke. They know what causes pregnancy and STD's and yet the numbers rise. I know we don't have all the answers to this dilemma but by pushing Sex Ed, Planned Parenthood, and etc. in our Public School systems has not really made a impact on the situation. What is the real question??? Why do our young people think that having casual sex and making babies is OK???

I just think some teens don't realize what a BIG DEAL it is to have a child. They know what they are doing but don't see the things involved with it (food, money, clothing, etc.) We can preach all we want about safe sex and protection but the thing is, not everyone is on the same wavelength. All we can do is be supportive to them. But really they need to think about what all having a child entails.
My sister had a baby when she was 17 and it made me not want to have children that young. I'm 25 and still can't imagine myself with a child.

My husband's cousin Brittany is 15, just had her baby, is not going back to school nor plans on it. The baby might be deaf because she's failed 3 hearing tests and Brittany has not even taken her back to the doc. to get her 2 wk shots or for a follow up hearing test because she has not bothered to get medicaid. She didn't even go to the doctor the whole 9 months. But she thinks all of this is cute.

Perhaps, the responsibility of child raising should be addressed and taught more in schools so young girls can a make a more informed decision.

I say don't complain about it help do something about it. Talking to the young girls about sex and birth control. Alot of these girls probably get pregnant on there first and second try because they don't know anything about sex and the guy could probably care less or he don't know jack either.
