if you're masochistic enough like myself, you use an antiseptic like listerine, and rinse the infected area for 30 seconds, repeating 2-4 times a day as needed.

It hurts like hell, but after the initial shock, you become numb to the pain, just like when you normally rinse with listerine.

Cold sores are caused by herpes virus. Kill the virus, there's no reason to have a sore anymore. Don't go crazy though, because you do want your body to try and repair itself after you sanitize the region, but say after 3-4 hours it still hurts, repeat the rinse.

When I do it, the sores typically resolve themselves in a few days, without any side effects to me.

The herpes virus creates cold sores/fever blisters. We can get them just by drinking someone else's drink, used forks, sharing lip products, or by kissing anyone which has them. The red bumps are usually fairly troublesome blisters which may show up nearby the lips, or also the inside of the mouth or nostril, somewhere else on your face, and in other places on your body.

They can reoccur simply because of greater stress and anxiety, the common cold, fever, winter weather, certain foods, or perhaps excessive sunshine. The area could begin to burn, then the sore will probably appear. The sore may dry up and build a yellow crust. They will stick around anywhere from 7 to 14 days. An individual could try to hide cold sores using makeup, but this normally makes it a whole lot worse.

To exterminate cold sores, you could attempt using a cold sore special product, employ chapstick with sun screen, dab licorice extract, ingest echinacea, vitamins C as well as E, and also absolutely steering clear of touching the cold sore. By implementing several lifestyle changes, it really is possible to reduce them and inhibit cold sores from reappearing.

Well you can buy products like abreva, or carmex.
Cold Sores are caused by herpes, so you would have to get rid of the virus.

Put some cider vinegar on a cotton ball and use that. It stings something fierce, but it'll clear up the cold sore quickly.

this might sound like a commercial, but Abreva works really well. My sister used it and hers was gone in about 2 days. which they normally can last a week. and it didnt look all yucky as it healed like other treatments...
