I have a friend who has the same name as his father and grandfather so he is the 3rd and has III after his name, his nickname is Trey, because he is the third, but we wondering that if he had a son and called him the same name, what would his numerical nickname be? please help!

obviously I know that it would continue the roman numericals (IV V VI etc)

Senior is for the eldest member of a family. Junior is directly one generation removed from the senior. If a Senior should die, junior becomes senior and the third generation technically is junior, though they rarely take the appelation.

You can also go by generational numbers, III, IV, V, VI, if you wish and the family perserves the surname and given names.

Trey would be a nickname based on the fact that he is "the III", but you would not want to go with Quad or Penta (Quint) for the forth and firth generations. However, in card parlance, (hence the tripp or trey) four of a kind is Quad.

It would be IV so the nick name would problably be Ivy and the fifth would be V so the nick name is Vee

IV is fourth, V is fifth, but no nick is attached to them. I guess you could call them Quad and Quint.

IV or V latin is always a good start I believe that is the answer.
