There are definately clicks. My advice is to tell your child to ignore them. Clicks only exist because others have trouble fitting in. Clicks are those students who are insecure and are afraid to stand alone. Those are the ones who need someone to follow. Leaders are the ones clicks tend to follow.

I don't think there is anything you can do to change it...there are always going to be certain groups of kids that act or feel like they are better than other kids. Most of the time....these kids just act what they have been taught. If a child isn't taught that all people are equal and that it's not ok to shun kids that aren't like you, then they will continue to do it. It's a parents responsibility to teach their children kindness and respect of others. Kids will flock to other kids that are similar to themselves based on who their parents are or the jobs they have...where they live and the clothes they wear......It's very sad for children who get treated differently. Because it can really affect them in many ways. They may get depressed, not want to go to school, start failing classes and just withdrawing all together. I really do wish there was something that could be done. I believe one thing would be to have mandatory school uniforms...then all kids are equal on that level and it doesn't show who can afford the higher end clothes and who cant.
Great Question !!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving !!!!

The word is clique, and yes virtually every school has them. One of the best ways to have kids be treated well is to teach them two things--to treat others well and to always have a "streetwise" sense of what's going on around them.
