God is Not jealous. Man wrote Him out to seem this way. Think of it, a Mighty Creator jealous of what He Created?

Once again, everyone misinterprets the Bible.

According to how I think the Bible was meant to be taken, God is a jealous god in the sense that if a Christian were to worship another god, it would obviously upset God.

"Jealous" here is just used in a sense that's rarely used anymore. Have you ever heard of a "jealous" chef? Say you frequent a particular nice restaurant, and then one day go out to another. If the chef heard about it, he may be insulted or hurt.

It's a silly little thing that didn't really mean much, but got blown way out of proportion by everyone.

sure, there is just one God. while human beings worship different issues, in spite of if those issues or beings are not real, then something is getting worship and easily God merits worship. he's the only that created each little thing and each little thing owes Him admire and worship. Human jealousy might nicely be imperfect, yet no longer God's. he's right in all of his attributes. only like God might nicely be indignant at sin and not sin Himself, so He might nicely be jealous and not be incorrect. comparing God to people is like comparing apples to oranges...or perhaps that may no longer a stable thank you to place it when you consider that he's so distinctive from us.

Because he is a being of infinite worth. The source of everything good, lovely, just, right, pleasant, powerful, etc. He is the real ideal. Such a being would be perfectly just in demanding that he be the highest affection of our hearts. If he did not demand this jealously it would be a criminal act on his part not to mention very unloving because having him as our center is the most fulfilling life one could possible have. To have God removed from our center is to have everything lovely, good and just removed as well. THe Bible elsewhere calls that hell. Hell is separation from God.
God can do a lot of things things that would be sin for us such as take vengence. He alone can take vengence because he alone possesses perfect judgement.
But GOd doesnt NEED worship. He existed for all eternity without any worshippers. He created worshippers out of pure joy over his own majestic greatness. It was a free act, not an act of need.
If your wife cheated on you, would jealousy be an appropriate response? Of course it would she had entered a marriage convenant with you alone. Jealousy is an approriate feeling. Our problem is that our jealousy is worped by our sin nature which drives us to respond unjustly.

He doesn't need it, He desires and deserves it.

Why do parents want their children to respect and obey them? The parents are worthy of honor because they created the child and raised them. They also have the child's best interests at heart, and institute rules to keep the child safe from harm as much as possible.

God is the ultimate parent: He created us all, deserves reverential fear from us all, and loves us all and has created guidelines for us to follow so we can be safe and happy.

We don't have to worship God: He gave us all free will. He wants us to worship Him because that is the best way we can display our love and gratitude to God for all He has done for us.

God is a jealous God.
when he created us, gave us our very life, and then get nothing in return...
when we turn our attention away frm him and onto something else that is worshiping another idol when you dont worship God anymore, he created us for the purpose to worship him, thats why.
When Jesus was on earht, he felt every emotion and feeling we felt, your telling me you have NEVER been jealous of somehting?
when we are created for a ceartin purpose and than not fufill that... ya I would be jealous to if music, movies, boyfriends, girlfriends, money, etc... took the place of me.

God has always declared that He requires faithfulness, obedience and fidelity to Him if we are ever to return to His presence. The jealousy spoken of is when we turn our backs on Him and send our devotions elsewhere. I suppose the connotation of jealousy, being something of an envy feeling toward another who has attracted attention that you feel belongs to you, would put God in a position of weakness or show that He has faults and flaws. Since that can't be the case, He being above human emotions of jealousy, envy and covetousness, then the jealousy spoken of must mean something different than the ordinary connotation. According to the Bible, when God's people turn their backs on Him and worship other entities, God is upset with them and tends to allow His people to be punished, usually by invading forces, in order to humble them and teach them to pay attention to their devotions to God. When they repent and acknowledge His supervisory authority over them, He again blesses them and frees them from the invaders. So His jealousy is more equatable with anger toward His wayward children. He disciplines us to bring us back in line.
In a modern application, He doesn't necessarily punish us with invading armies so much as allow us to suffer the consequences of our bad choices. This usually takes the form of social suffering in its many manifestations.
If God's children, all of us here on earth, were to be obedient to His teachings, as expressed by Jesus and His appointed representatives, then we would see a much more peaceful society in the world. All suffering that we experience is a direct consequence of somebody somewhere not following one or more of God's teachings.
Think about it.
