Why does everyone forget the Philippines, one of the safest, cheapest, easiest countries in the world to live in.
700 quid a month is plenty for a 2 bed house in a nice beach area, all the food and booze you could want, and a live in partner to take care of you and the house.
Don't be a mug, come and see for yourself.
This country is full of people who were travelling around the world and stopped as soon as they found out how fantastic it is.
I can't tell you how many sailor friends of mine are in that group aswell.
There's 7107 stunning islands here, and half of them are un-inhabited, there's no mass tourism and you can stay here for a year on a tourist visa renewed every 2 months for 130 quid a year.
Check it out dude.
Need any help, call me..............

Howdy,

I just travelled around the world, and £50k would be enough to live like a king in so many places it's untrue. I'm guessing you would like to keep some creature comforts (rather than live in a desert, which would be pretty cheap). My pick would be Fiji. You could buy half an acre in paradise, with shops and great locals etc. The other islands in the south pacific either don't allow foreign buyers, or are extremely expensive.
If not Fiji, New Zealand is heaven. The pound is worth 3 dollars(NZ) and things are prices about the same as the UK (ie a beer is £3 in UK, or $3 in NZ. You may have to work, but you could buy a big house for $150NZD. And the people here are not just nice, they are amazing, educated and friendly!
Canada is another option - great place and people, and 50 big ones would go a long way.
Really, anywhere other than England (or Britain) would probably be a safe bet.

If you go, send me a post card.

Cheers

I would say Thailand. Everything is cheap there compared to the UK. For instance a months membership for a state of the art gym in Bangkok including unlimited classes was ...........£20! and you can get a meal at a roadside restaurant for 30p! Get over there now!
