first thing is to clean it often, use antibacirial ointment of some kind, you may even try hydrogen peroxide, i know that peroxide is contriversial but it works. if after a couple days its not getting better then you will have to remove the jewelery and let it heal. also make sure that its good jewelery (surgical steel).

When I got mine done the first time they didn't do it right, by which I mean in the wrong spot. It was suppose to be done slightly back from where it was originally done. So you may have that same problem.
Mine swelled up, I took it out, squeezed out the infection, went back to the place I got it done in the first place. The owner realized the problem. I had to wait untill it was completely healed and he re-pierced it for free. Never had a problem since.

I have my belly pierced but hasn't ever gonne bad.
However, I know that you have to put water and salt with a smalL piece of cotton twice a day for a month (when u first have it pierced). If nothing happens you should see a doctor. Good luck! :)

i don't know anyone who has NOTgotten infected belly button piercing. I used Bactine spray on mine b/c it numbs the area, cleans it good, and doesn't burn. If it starts to look like there are streaks going up your skin towards your heart, get to the ER quick.

Swollen and HOT TO THE TOUCH means see the doc ASAP. You obviously have a nasty infection that needs to be checked out ASAP. Call your doc when you read this or go to urgent care and get it treated.
