Milkshakes don't contain malt. You can buy powdered malt at the grocery store. Carnation makes it.

A Malt is much much thinner and is flavored with malt powder. You can buy it in any grocery store, it's made by Borden. Ever had the candy "Whoppers"? They are malted milk balls. That is the same flavoring added to a malt drink.

A milkshake is milk and icecream and a flavored syrup.
A malt is almost the same but it has malt powder or syrup in it.
