I don't think it's a big deal, christmas really isn't a christian holiday to most non-christians, it's about giving and recieving, spending time with your family etc.. for most people.

I'm not a Christian. I am so NOT in the least offended when someone wishes me a merry Christmas. I think the whole thing is rather silly, to be honest. (And they don't play the religious Christmas carols on the Muzak at work, which is sad because they're actually my favorite. I can only listen to so many reggae versions of Silver Bells before I throw something and want to hear a REAL song like We Three Kings or O Holy Night.)

Wanna have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD!
As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, CHRISTIAN, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world.
Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it.
Here's the Address, just don't be rude or crude.
(It's Not the Christian Way, ya know?)
ACLU
125 Broad Street
18th Floor
New York, NY 10004
Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions.. So spend 39 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a Holiday Tree. . . . It's a Christmas Tree

The problem is it is impossible NOT to offend at least some people. Some people are looking to be offended! Because the day IS labeled Christmas is is proper to wish them a Merry Christmas. There is no "shoving down any ones throat" just a well wish for the particular day.

Some one wishing you a Merry Christmas should not be offensive. If someone is offended by then they have some issues to deal with. That would be like me telling you to have a good day and you told me to go jump in the lake.Merry Christmas is not trying to convert anyone, it is just well wishing.By the way.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

North America was founded on christianity therefore we have the right to say Merry Christmas to anybody who came as an immigrant from another nation. However, it is just common sense that I do not say M C to an individual who is obviously a muslim. I do not say to my jewish friends MC but Happy Holidays, the same is for my cards. Seasons Greetings to all my non christian friends the rest gets the M C. And the muslims and jews I work with give me Christmas presents and a card with MC. It just shows you, if you respect them, the respect comes back to you.

It would be impossible to know who is and who isn't Christian. It is stupid to be offended by those words. It is Christmas, a pagan holiday. A holiday where people buy a tree and spend way too much on retail items. This should not be as big of a deal as some make it.

So far I've never met anyone who was offended by my saying Merry Christmas. Not that the epression seems to mean much anyway. Just a greeting in the season.

That would be a nice way of people keeping their religion to themselves. I just wish the people I work with, who are fully aware of my beliefs, would stop saying "God bless you" every time I sneeze.
