You will ruin your capret if you attempt to do that. Remember, carpet isn't even suppose to be cleaned with water really. The backing will rot and eventually give off a bad odor, not to mention the carpet itself is made of fibers that are water resistence. Try new carpet. You can get it at discount prices sometimes.

Chances are your carpet is made from synthetic fibers such as nylon or polyester. It may be dyed but I would not attempt it myself, as mentioned before, that much water will ruin the backing, soak into your padding and be a big stinky mess. There are professional companies that can dye using an extraction method similair to when your carpet is cleaned - those work best. Check your local yellow pages.

Try using Dylon cold water fabric dye pour on leave for 15-20 minutes and rince torally.

The whole carpet. Use a old mop and use a stain that will dry. I've done it before.
