I think the problem I have is that they shout it out to everyone that they are a vegetarian. Which leads me to believe many do so for the attention. I know that is not fair and that is not all veggies, but still.

I probably have a bad taste in my mouth but I remember being out of town with the high school debate team and we stopped at McDonald's and one girl with us would never shut up about being a veggie. Anyway she ordered a Big Mac with no beef and a chocolate shake. And the fast thinking worker asked "with no chocolate?". It was hilarious. But Maureen wanted EVERYONE to know she was a veggie!
And you raise a good point. MORE MEAT FOR ME!

The largest single group of vegetarians in the U.S. are females 18-26. This is also the group that is most likely to get in your face, tell you all about their exciting "food revelations", and sneer and otherwise denigrate you for not following in their self-righteous, ill-informed, snotty little footsteps.

The lengths to which some vegetarians will go to deny 100 million years of evolution (if you are atheist/agnostic), or God's design for man and woman, (if you are a believer), and then claim a halo for their questionable decision to risk malnutrition and death, is a miracle of self-absorption and a severe annoyance to all of mankind.

"Malnutrition?" I hear you ask, "Don't all of those lovely veggies, and fruits and grains just make the vegetarian the picture of health?"

Not really. In fact, if you think about every vegetarian you have ever known, surprisingly few of them will seem particularly happy, healthy or otherwise well.

Why? Simple. There are 8 amino acids you MUST have for health (10 for children). Take away one and you are malnourished.

Period.

Is it possible to get all of them from a vegetarian diet?

Yes. But it is extremely difficult. It is also stupid to do risk, when 4-6 ounces of chicken and the same of fish PER WEEK will take care of all of your needs. Unless you are having a baby.

I don't think that us omnivores are opposed to vegetarians, we're just opposed to misinformed dunderheads.

Because they are so opposed to carnivores - they are so self righteous about the healthier lifestyle and being kinder to the environment -blah, blah, woof-woof. It is old fine put a carrot in it already - I used to be veggie but the lifestyle was too much like work - back to reality now and you know what glad to have more meat for me and let the veggies do their thing.

People don't like vegetarians because they feel as though it is a statement of criticism about people who do eat meat and well, no one likes to be criticized.

I'm a veggie, and I do agree with what was said before about it being annoying when someone won't shut up about it. I have friends who won't shut up about it and go on and on.
