I think I am depressed, I don't smile as much as before, and lost interest in stuff I used to love doing..

I also don't feel the same way as before about anything, things make me neither happy nor sad.

I think it's because bad things happened to me a few months ago involving people I really, really cared about..

What can I do about it? Will it stop eventually? I don't know what to do, but I don't want to get medicated or to go to the doctor, I hope it will disappear some day..

Sorry for my bad english...!

I also stopped crying, I don't remember the last time I did, I feel like I am another person..

For example: When I heard anything about a particular singer I adore, I used to jump of happiness, now it's like I don't even care..

I don't know how to say it in English, but I'm scared that my heart became like a stone and I'm uncapable of feeling any emotions or crying..

Sorry for making it so long, but I really don't know what to do, and thanks to everyone who has answered my question..

I think the best thing is to seek professional treatment, don't be afraid of the doctor, they deal w/this on a regular basis, went to school for it, it is what they do. Just remember you have a voice, and that means you do not wish to take medication, they should help find you an alternative treatment. I do feel that you have issues that you need to talk out, when you do it will make a big difference.

A few months of feeling blue, or depression is too long. Unless it was major trauma... u have to make things change.

So make new friends, by getting back to living and excercising, start eating more dark green veggies, carrots. Positive attitude brings about positive people around u. Doom and gloom brings forth those who'll either push u further down, or support depression.

Do u have a good friend to confide in? How about a counselor at nearest mental health center in your town? U'll be suprised with a train ear can do for u. Not everyone has to have meds, and if ur put on some, make sure it's the mildest dosage. Understand what ur taking and why. Make sure the pharmacist explain side effects, good or bad.

Life is too short to spend being unhappy. U'll find good friends, good job and make ur home comfortable and positive enviorment too. good luck

I know it may seem hart but you can get over this. If you don't want to get medicated you can try other things. I was depressed for a while. What I found that helped the most was journaling. Figure out how you feel. Buy a private journal with a lock and when you start to feel depressed write in it, let all your emotions out. Every time you write you will feel lighter. Talk to your friends, friend help! Try to act like your not depressed and have a good time and soon you will forget you are depressed. It is better to think about the future not dwell in the past good luck! i hope i helped

Well, depression is a disease. It WILL go away by itself.. sometimes. However, usually, it is going to get worse way before it even starts to get better, and it can start to manifest in other illnesses.

Todays medication for depression aren't as mind numbing as most people imagine, any more, nor is it a BAD THING.

PLEASE, go to your md. Find out if a prescription will help, and find out what ELSE you can do. Sometimes a minor prescription for a couple of months mixed with therapy may help.

If you can, write down all your highs and lows for the time it takes before your appointment. Not only will this help your doctor give you the least amount of medication, but it will also help him figure the best course of action for you to heal.

One thing to remember... MANY people suffer depression, but it doesn't mean you should HAVE to. Please take care of yourself.

(on a personal note... what I thought was just depression for myself, ended up being bipolar... so, I do know some of what you are going through...)

I suffer from depression as well. I don't know what to tell you though. I've been on anti-depressants, and they made me feel terrible. I took several different kinds, and all of them made me feel just plain weird. I didn't become happy, just apathetic. I was apathetic about absolutely everything. And I was having really weird dreams. There were other bad side effects too. So I quit taking them and now I'm back to being depressed again. But I'd rather be depressed than suffer through the side effects of the anti-depressants.

If you are depressed because of events in your life, it may only be temporary. Hang out with positive people, not negative - state of mind is contagious. Force yourself to go out, do the things you used to love, you may lose yourself in them and feel better before you know it. Be active. Excercise produces endorphins that can alter your mood naturally. Express yourself. Take all the negative feelings and let them out in a constructive way...crafts, writing, music...whatever you feel is best for you. Or talk to someone trusted. It helps lift the weight when you can share it. Stay away from mood altering drugs and depressants like alcohol and weed...it might feel good for a minute but you'll feel worse when you're sober.

If it lasts and is unavoidable you may have to suck it up and see a therapist. They can help you handle your feelings and see things from a more positive prospective.

If you need someone to talk to, email me.

I know how you feel. I have had a record bad year, I lost my house my finance my best friend. There are times I think I will never make it, but I have and everyday get a little bit better. Just hang in there, everything is temporary, hold on to the possitive, and do special things that are just for you. Good luck to you. Keep your head up.

You might really want to reconsider seeking professional help. There are SO many things in our lives that we have no control over that leave us with the wind knocked out of us.
Talking to someone (counselor) to help you work through a personal hurt is nothing to be ashamed of. We can't always recover from a hurt by our selves. It's like if you broke your arm, you would go to the ER to have a doctor fix it.
Same with short term use of antidepressants. Sometimes they're necessary.
Please reconsider - I would hate to have you continue to suffer unnecessarily. You deserve better. You deserve to be happy.
Take care................

I suffer from depression myself and what i did was talked to a professional and they can determine if your depressed because something is going on in your life or if you have a a chemical inbalance, in which case you might need medication, but no one in this form can give you the help you need. Keep your head up and watch a funny movie and if you need someone to talk to e-mail me. Your english isnt bad, where are you from??
