It's a matter of taste. Some like it bitter, some prefer it smoother. Personally, I like Kona. A friend turned me on to it. It's flavorful, without the acrid taste that are trademark to some blends.

Chock Full of Nuts makes a decent ground coffee. If you've got to go the cheap, store bought route, it's not that bad a selection.

Porto Rico Importing Company brews up some of the best cafe in NYC. You can find them online.

Other than that it's flavored all the way for me-- hazelnut, french vanilla. Yummy!

Coffee will retain it's freshness in the freezer if it is well wrapped and airtight. I would expect it would be good for at least 6 months.

As far as which is the best, that is a matter of taste. Some people love Starbucks and others hate it. There are gourmet coffees, flavored coffees, french roast...and the list goes on.

Try a few that come in the one pot size and see what you like best or go to a few coffee houses and taste test. Then you will be able to select the one or ones you like best. My personal favorite is Don Francisco French Vanilla.

Yes putting it in the freezer will extend its freshness....I personally like Kona, it is a mellow, not bitter but strong coffee from Hawaii. Try it.
